The bike is good project began life in 2011 as a transcontinental bicycle adventure. As we pedalled from Seattle to Boston it grew into something even bigger. Life from the bike became life as we knew it, a way of engaging with the world that was much richer and honest than we had previously known. On our return to Australia we have tried to continue in the b.i.g. spirit, still happiest pedalling!

Day 31 Jackson to Dillon 83km (& two passes)

Ever had that feeling that you really needed some space???

That's me, getting a serious dose of space! One month of bike travel, and we clicked over 2000km on the pedometre, climbed two passes, got to the highest elevation so far at 7400ft, saw plenty of cows, mountains, pronghorn antelope, and the occasional human! Most of all we reinforced the major lesson of this adventure, that what you put out there in the universe comes back to you. We stopped to help a woman whose precarious ute load of furniture was strewn about the highway. She was so thankful we were given some hugs, and offered her house in Dillon (our destination) to stay for the evening. We gratefully accepted this wonderful offer, because who knows when the opportunity to use a kitchen will next present itself! The spontaneous generosity of the people is an unlooked for and unexpected delight and we feel so lucky! Further evidence of this philosophy was found at the visitors centre, where the manager could fill us in on the progress of the cyclist who was taken to Dillon Hospital from Wisdom two days ago, as she and her husband will be driving him to West Yellowstone so he can continue his trip. We ran into his traveling companions in town and were pleased to hear that although suffering from painful bruising and gravel rash no permanent injuries were sustained, news we heard with relief. A wonderful day got it's cherry on top with a Skype call from our beautiful friends Liz and Jackie, to share this adventure is a genuine highlight, and we're so proud of you two for figuring out how to Skype ;) Posted using BlogPress from my iPad
