The bike is good project began life in 2011 as a transcontinental bicycle adventure. As we pedalled from Seattle to Boston it grew into something even bigger. Life from the bike became life as we knew it, a way of engaging with the world that was much richer and honest than we had previously known. On our return to Australia we have tried to continue in the b.i.g. spirit, still happiest pedalling!

Day 32 Rest Day in Dillon 14km

After a peaceful night lounge room camping, we have the luxury of time for a hot homemade breakfast (still loving the kitchen novelty), some iPad morning music (Paolo Nutini) and the ever present cup of coffee. The leisurely ride back into Dillon town centre, is a Lycra free joy. We restock at Safeway, and I am heartily impressed by the size of the cup holders, a standard feature on the shopping trolleys! If you have to see it to believe it...

A bit of tootling around town, we bravely resist the Patagonia outlet store, brings us to Sparkies, a restaurant that used to be a service station, and is serving the kind food you expect in the US of A. The sweet potato fries are luscious and luckily I can rely on Kerstin to help me finish my huge Mexican salad. Such an indulgent day leaves us feeling antsy, the steep limestone hills above the campground beckon and we set out on foot. A bit of climbing, and being willfully ignorant of fencing and no trespassing signs, and the views from the top are spectacular and far reaching. When they say Montana is Big Sky Country, they really mean it! We can watch the fast moving thunderstorms roll over the valley below us. A new wildlife experience gives us a thrill on the descent when a willow eating beaver is spotted in the creek! A simple dinner and two very satisfied campers are soundly asleep.
