The bike is good project began life in 2011 as a transcontinental bicycle adventure. As we pedalled from Seattle to Boston it grew into something even bigger. Life from the bike became life as we knew it, a way of engaging with the world that was much richer and honest than we had previously known. On our return to Australia we have tried to continue in the b.i.g. spirit, still happiest pedalling!

Days 24 Rest day in Missoula 14km

We awake early filled with anticipation for the days ahead! The farmers market beckons, and we are amongst the first arrivals, the barista loves Kerstin's accent and a lovely coffee is the result. Paired with a fresh cinnamon roll and some morning sunshine, life is perfect. We sit and watch Missoula come awake. The first real summer days have finally arrived and the citizens take full advantage, they are out in force, thongs in situ, strolling the wide city streets, tootling along on their bicycles, in the runners group or even surfing the rapids of the freezing Clark Fork river! We love the community and active sensibilities of this town, it immediately appeals. Kerstin is so inspired by our sense of adventure and trying new things she suggests we join the Missoulians for some Bikram yoga tomorrow morning, I agree so long as we can also have a genuine American breakfast at the Uptown Diner, total 50s nostalgia! I will keep you informed of the outcome of this grand scheme. Some actual organisational activities are required and we tick them off our list with efficiency. A huge thank you to Hellgate Cyclery for an absolutely brilliant job of bike service, Audrey has never ridden so well! From the comfy couch at liquid planet (great Australian wine selection) Kerstin is so happy she giggles, reads, navel gazes and giggles some more. I have the pleasure of initiating plans beyond yoga and breakfast for the next two days, we will have the good fortune to see the local gems with some local gems! - Posted using BlogPress from my iPad
