Kerstin has maintained her enthusiasm for a Bikram yoga class over night (this is yoga done in a sauna) so we pack up camp and bike into town, without any regrets for leaving the KOA behind us ;). And with yoga mats, towels and water bottles all arranged we are all set to take on this new challenge, how hard can 90mins of yoga in a 40+ degree room with humidity at least 90% be??? 3 days later and some bits of me are still aching. But poor Kerstin really suffered in the heat and with the bending of her body into positions it had never experienced before. We suffered and sweated until it ran in little rivers off us, Kerstin now describes Bikram yoga has the combination of riding a fully loaded touring bike over a pass in a Finnish sauna. The joy of stepping out of that hot room, and being offered an icypole was cause for celebration, and was soon followed by a large and very unhealthy American Breakfast. One of those ones where you have to make a lot of separate choices from big lists of options like what type of bread do you want, or do you want pancakes, muffins or biscuits instead? How do you want your eggs, there seem to be endless variations of egg styles, it is way beyond me to comprehend them all. Do you want syrup, what kind, or jam, what kind? Do you want coffee, with creamer, half and half, black??? It is definitely my favorite meal to eat out here, just for the fun factor, and the fantastic 50s atmosphere at the uptown diner was the cherry on top of the root beer float! Filled to the brim with carbs, fat, salt, syrup and caffeine, we clamber back onto our bikes and ride, slowly, to our next new experience. Where we are greeted with enthusiasm not just by the lovely Jenn and Rob, but also by their gorgeous Tiika, labrador x golden retriever, and smarter than the average bear! As afternoon stretches into evening the exchange of thoughts, ideas and experiences flows like a great green river, full of life and potential and a new friendship is born. Fertilised with food (including a genuine homemade apple pie), wine and music we retire physically tired but riding high on having the trust and courage to pursue these new experiences.
