The bike is good project began life in 2011 as a transcontinental bicycle adventure. As we pedalled from Seattle to Boston it grew into something even bigger. Life from the bike became life as we knew it, a way of engaging with the world that was much richer and honest than we had previously known. On our return to Australia we have tried to continue in the b.i.g. spirit, still happiest pedalling!

Day 9 Wanconda to Curlew 60km

At this altitude we are greeted with a frosty morning, but the ground squirrels seem unfazed so we break camp regardless. We rug up for a long downhill journey which requires only the bravery to go fast, not much leg action/warmth generation required. But plenty of wildlife to be seen along the way, squirrels, deer, elk and lots of foreign bird life that I don't recognise. We reach the Kettle river in record time and motor along beside it into the small town of Curlew. Where we have been recommended a Cycle Camp and Breakfast place. Our hosts Susie and Keith are not at home to greet us but we are given a very enthusiastic welcome by their dog Forest. We set up camp in their gorgeous backyard and enjoy a solar shower with recycled water in the greenhouse, a new and pleasurable experience! The rain does not abandon us today, and we seek shelter in our trusty tent glad for a short day and dry selves. P.S. Can anyone tell us who Ron Paul is??? Obviously has a huge fan in Curlew!

  2. I am glad to hear that you are experiencing the animal life as well. It does take slowing down and not having a noisy engine to see the life that surrounds us...
Ron Paul was a presidential conservative candidate in the last election....I have not heard if he will be entering the up coming race or not.
