The bike is good project began life in 2011 as a transcontinental bicycle adventure. As we pedalled from Seattle to Boston it grew into something even bigger. Life from the bike became life as we knew it, a way of engaging with the world that was much richer and honest than we had previously known. On our return to Australia we have tried to continue in the b.i.g. spirit, still happiest pedalling!

Day 94 Wallaceburg to Eagle 95km

'Ontario, yours to discover'. I find this slogan on the number plates particularly inspiring, the weather adds to my sense of inspiration. Thanks to our late start we enjoy a day of warm sunshine and humidity from the first to the last pedal stroke. Things can turn around so quickly that we have learnt to appreciate the good things when they are present. After so much riding along endless cornfields we get quite excited when we discover something new, not seem before on this trip, tobacco fields! And, not sure if somehow related to the tobacco, "smoke barns" with an associated handmade sign out the front stating 'smoke barn, dot not call 911', this I assume is because the smoke pouring out of them looks and smells suspiciously like a fire. We are not especially reminded of Germany in this part of the world, but the town of Dresden, Ontario has it's own new world charm, and is worth a quick stop.

We are happy travelers today, everywhere we go there are friendly faces, friendly car toots, and lots of enquiries just to check we are doing ok or if we need any help. These gestures are a positive reminder that we are still on this BikeIsGood tour, and that we have traveled 4000 bloody miles to get where we are. Once we reach Troy, and then Eatonville Lake Erie moves into the picture, and oh my god, that's another huge lake! I was naive enough to think that on a clear day, like today, you could probably see Ohio, ha! Forget it, nothing but water as far as the eye can see. The presence of the lake changes the scenery and brings the sense of a holiday destination. The little towns along the way are as versatile in their architecture as they are in their names. In New Glasgow we spot a very Scottish looking mansion that would be quite at home in the highlands. We are not quite sure if we are allowed to camp where we do, but the conservation area invites us to go 'wild camping' once again, even with the additional challenge of no drinking water. But there is the big lake, and there is us, two happy campers experienced and optimistic enough to make things happen. A lovely stroll down to the shores of Lake Erie does not only reward us with spectacular views

but also with a platypus bag full of lake water. A happy ending to a happy ending to a happy day on the road! PS. We boiled the water ;) PPS. Today's blog entry bought to you by Kerstin
