The bike is good project began life in 2011 as a transcontinental bicycle adventure. As we pedalled from Seattle to Boston it grew into something even bigger. Life from the bike became life as we knew it, a way of engaging with the world that was much richer and honest than we had previously known. On our return to Australia we have tried to continue in the b.i.g. spirit, still happiest pedalling!

Day 84 Unplanned Rest Day in Wausau
What can we say! Except it wasn't the bed, or the shower, or the laundry that convinced us to stay another day, but the desire to strengthen these new human connections we started building yesterday. I have heard the saying, that humans are social animals, so many times, but I have never felt it to be so true and real since we hopped on those bikes. Take away all that other 'stuff', your TV, your work, your daily routine, an apartment full of more stuff, stuff that needs cleaning and maintenance, and you won't really miss it too much, but human interaction, that, I have found is integral to my happiness. So the opportunity to invest our time in some quality sharing of thoughts and ideas, with some messy cooking with kids, with watching a grown man do a really excellent impersonation of a turkey, this is far to good to miss! Lots of love and thanks to Celine and family for opening your home and sharing a day with us, it was wonderful!
